Meet Our Staff
Laurie C. Juarez, Director of Christian Education: Laurie is originally from North Carolina. She attended to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed the degreee of early education and family development. Laurie also completed the degree of Master of Christian Education at Union Presbyterian Seminary. Laurie enjoys writing curriculum for Christian Education and she enjoys writing stories for children. Laurie is Married to Rev. Noe and has two children: Paul (5) and Ella (3).
Ana Marson, Administrative Assistant: Originally from Honduras. Graduated from Cultura Nacional College with the degree in Accounting. Ana is serving in this position at Sunset since 2007. She is a faithful Christian whose gifts are greatly appreciated. Ana is Married to Presley and they both have two Children: Necach and Isaac.
Michael LaScala, Director of English Music Ministires: Pianist, Teacher, Choral Director, Music Director at Sunset Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lauderdale since 2002. Weston Christian Academy piano and keyboard instructor for individual and group lab. Choral coach for 5th, 7th and 8th grade musical drama. 1999-2011. Keyboard accompanist for the ‘Musigals’, a professional choir of 35 women, performing jazz, pop, and blues throughout South Florida 1998-2003. Music Director and organist at Dania united Methodist Church. 1997-1999. Composed the Florida chapter of ‘Hugs not Drugs’ theme song, a program started by first lady Nancy Reagan. Organist and pianist at Living Gospel Church, East Rutherford, NJ. 1984-1989. Business owner of St. George Florist and Gifts, Clifton NJ. 1972-1997 Education: Manhattan School of Music bachelor degree in music, piano performance and teaching. 1966-1970. Julliard School of Music extension division. 1965-1966. NYC teacher certification 1970. Broward county teacher certification 1996.
Abel Gomez, Director of Spanish Music Ministries: Abel is originally from Havana Cuba, He began to play the piano and the accordion at the age of 10, at the age of 12 he studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Havana for nearly two years before leaving Cuba toward the United States at the age of 14. Two years later moved to Puerto Rico where he got his Bachelor of Music from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and later came back to the United States where he got his Master of Music from Eastern New Mexico University. After completing his Master's degree he has dedicated his life to the music in the church, beginning at Sunset Presbyterian Church before being called to be the Director of Music Ministries at Cypress Presbyterian Church for 3 years before returning to Sunset Presbyterian Church where he continues to serve in that capacity.
